Don’t miss the giveaway at the end of the post! Thanks to Indiana Pork for allowing me to share about this.

Indiana State Fair Pork Tent BBQ Sandwich

Our family loves the Indiana State Fair. It’s one of those things where we go first thing in the morning and then stay until the evening. And, we do EVERYTHING–the rides, the vendors, the barns with the animals and especially the food.

Each year, one of our favorite food tents is the Indiana Pork tent. (Last year in one day we ate there twice, but I won’t tell if you won’t tell.) They have pulled pork barbecue sandwiches (my favorite), a pork burger, pork tenderloins, and a boneless pork chop. However, my husband’s favorite is the “garbage burger” which is a pork burger topped with pulled pork and seasoned with barbecue sauce. (For real.) It’s totally awesome, so you definitely have to try it! You can also make any of these sandwiches a meal by pairing it up with chips, applesauce and a drink. (And, making it a meal is SUPER important. Keep reading.)

So, when you’re heading out to the Indiana State Fair this year, don’t forget to eat at one of the pork tents (there are three!). Go ahead, go hog wild! (You know it had to be said…)

Make It a Meal: Indiana Pork and ISDA Partnership Feeds the Hungry

Bone-in chop from Indiana Pork Tent at Indiana State FairOk, so the food is amazing, but check this out: this year Indiana Pork has teamed up with the Indiana State Department of Agriculture to help fight hunger in Indiana! (And you know how I love a good cause and helping others!) For every entrée that a customer decides to “make a meal,” Indiana Pork and ISDA will donate one ground pork meal to food banks across the state.

ISDA has helped fund this promotion through their Livestock Promotion Grant Award program. Their goal is to sell 30,000 meals which will result in the donation of 7,500 pounds of pork to Indiana food banks. (Isn’t that amazing?) Once all of the meals have been tallied, the ground pork will be purchased, packaged through McFarling Foods and sent out to food banks across the state. So, not only are you getting yummy food at the fair, but you are also helping feed others! (Dude, win-win, I know.)

Need another reason to go? (I can’t imagine, but OK.)
