When I Grow Up

4 year old: Mommy when I grow up I DO NOT want to be a doctor.
Me: Oh really, why?
Her: Because I am NOT cleaning up all that puke.
Me: [laughs] Yeah, puke is pretty gross.
Me: What do you think you want to be when you grow up?
Her: Dunno. NOT a Vet.
Me: Okay…
Her: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Me: I think I’m already there. I already do what I wanted to do.
Her: Like what?
Me: Writer, teacher, mommy, helping others. Those are all pretty cool things.
Her: [shakes head] No, you really have to pick one.
Me: Nope. That’s the cool thing about being a grown up, you get to choose. I choose to do many things.
Her: I know what I want to be when I grow up.
Me: Really? What?
Her: A grandma.
