If you’ve followed me for a while, you know how important helping others is to me. Also, I love when companies walk-the-walk instead of just talking-the-talk. It’s important for big companies to get involved in helping the little guys. Enter Skyo, because that’s just what they’re doing.
How Skyo Is Giving Back
Skyo, an online textbook company (you can rent or buy them! I.KNOW.), has pledged to give $1 to the Thirst Project in December for every new Facebook like and Twitter follow — up to $25,000! (WAY!)
All you have to do is go over to their Facebook page and like them and then head over to Twitter and follow @GoSkyo there and BOOM! that’s two bucks toward providing clean water to someone who doesn’t have access to it.
About Thirst Project
Did you know that 1 billion people in the world don’t have access to clean drinking water?
I didn’t. Really, I had no idea until I started working with Skyo and learned more about the Thirst Project. However, the most sobering in-your-face fact for me was when I heard that one child dies every 15 seconds due to diseases caused by contaminated water.
Wow.
One college student with a heart for helping others realized this issue and started the Thirst Project –a project to “raise awareness of and bring solutions to the clean water crisis through Education Outreach Programs that educate, equip and empower individuals to explore the human journey and take action in projects that create radical and sustainable global change, and champion hope and respect for the positive values of life.”
(Yes, one person really can help change the world.)
How Can You Help Get Clean Water for Those In Need FREE?
It really is as easy as I mentioned above:
1. Like Skyo on Facebook.
2. Follow them on Twitter as @GoSkyo.
3. Tell your friends and family!
They’re only doing this until the end of December 2012, so we only have a couple more weeks! I would truly love to see us max out Skyo’s commitment to give up to $25,000! Dude, that could be almost 17 new wells for an entire community! Talk about giving back…
