Enjoy Christmas at the Indianapolis Zoo and An Awesome Giveaway

A special thanks to Jon and the Indianapolis Zoo for allowing me to host this giveaway and support the zoo.

Ok, I know what you’re thinking, “It’s winter. What’s you talkin’ ’bout zoo stuff, Wilson?” (Please read in your best Gary Coleman accent. Thank you.) But, dude, the zoo is not only open, but they also have a cool event going on for Christmas!

Christmas at the Zoo

The Indianapolis Zoo is hosting the 44th annual “Christmas at the Zoo” event now through December  30, 2012, where you and the family can stroll through the zoo and enjoy not only the animals who love cooler weather, but also awesome animated light installations. (Fun fact: Did you know the Indianapolis Zoo was the first Zoo in the United States to have an annual holiday lights display? I would take credit for that one, but Jon from the Zoo totally tipped me off on it. Whatever, Jon. Show off.)

And, guess what else? I know, the lights and animals cool enough, so try to contain yourself when I tell you that there are campfires to warm you up, visits with Santa, cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus, choirs and carolers, reindeer, special holiday-themed dolphin shows, games, crafts, rides, hot chocolate, a sweet shoppe, photo ops, gift shop, The Wizard of Oz 4-D Experience, and, and, and, and … well, if that’s not enough then you’re probably a big Scrooge. (Sorry, but Bah-Humbug to you.) If you don’t believe me, just check out the Zoo schedule and map.

Here’s another little tip for you (yes, more insider info … just stick with me, kid): Purchase a “Cup of Cheer” early in your visit because you get your cup refilled all night long with free hot drinks at any food service location!

Help Others When Visiting the Zoo

And, you know me, so you know I’m always going to include the stuff about helping others, so listen up:

The Zoo is a collection point for the WISH Tree program. Through Dec. 14, you can drop off any new toy at the collection boxes in the gift shops inside the Zoo and White River Gardens for a child in need. So, take along a gift when you go, OK? You  know what you get for it? The warm fuzzies of helping others, that’s what. (What kind of person are you expecting something in exchange for helping others?! What kind of site do you think we’re runnin’ here?! SANTA IS WATCHING, YOU KNOW.)

Oh, FYI? Christmas at the Zoo is free for Zoo members and included with regular off-season admission. Receive $1.00 off admission with each donation of a new hat, scarf or gloves to neighboring St. Mary’s Children Center, which helps young children who are at risk for social, emotional, economic and environmental problems.

Discount tickets for Christmas at the Zoo are available at participating Donatos and Teachers Credit Union locations. (Another TIP: Donatos will also deliver tickets with your pizza order at no extra charge! WAY. You’re welcome.)

Win Christmas at the Zoo Tickets and a Gift Basket!

Win this awesome Christmas at the Indianapolis Zoo basket, including 4 free tickets!

I’ve partnered up with the Indianapolis Zoo to giveaway a gift basket with four (4) tickets to Christmas at the Zoo 2012, and a Cup of Cheer (unlimited FREE fill-ups of coffee or hot chocolate while at Christmas at the Zoo), walrus plush, and jar of candy in a cute plastic tub (that you can use for the lump of coal for that naughty person in your family). Dude! This is totally $75 worth of awesomeness in this giveaway. (PS: If that super cute walrus is missing from the basket when you get it, just forget I mentioned it. He is my absolute favorite thing at the entire Zoo!)

I would absolutely take myself and the three kiddos. Two of them think they have outgrown the zoo — but they are suckers for Christmas lights. And if that stuffy walrus is missing from the basket? I will hunt you down…love him!
