Awful Office Cube Could Win You $1200 in Prizes to ‘Pimp Your Cube’

| January 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

One of the worst things about working in the corporate world today is those awful office cubes. Being stuck looking at three tacky, cloth-covered walls for 8 to 10 hours a day doesn’t exactly raise the creativity bar and instill the “Yeah! I want to work here!” ethic.  (And how about when someone sneaks up and pops their head over to look at you? Shudder.)

When I was in that cube world, I used to do whatever I could to “decorate” my cube—tacky Santas at Christmas, calendars, pictures of family, cartoons that made me laugh or anything else that would brighten my day a bit. I think a time or two then office even had cube decorating contests. Anything to make that little space more bearable while you were at work.

If you are nodding your head in agreement and staring at your tacky cube decorations as you read this, then you’re in luck. The Contest Factory is having a Pimp My Cube Contest and looking for “the worst, most pathetic and messy” cubicle around—and they’re willing to give up $1200 in prizes like computer systems, a new desk, chairs, stereo, espresso machine, decorations and more. Also, a random drawing will take place for  a $200 gift card for the runner-up.

What do you have to do? Just create a contest video of your awful cube (or even your neighbor’s) and tell your story of why it’s so horrible. Once you’ve uploaded your video and it’s been approved, make sure you have your friends and family vote for your video. The winner will be chosen by a mix of story and votes, so don’t forget to be entertaining and funny!

So, go on and get started. The entry deadline is January 31, 2012. I mean, if you have to work in a cube, shouldn’t you at least win something cool to decorate it?
