Giveaway | Max Lucado Releases New ‘Hermie’ Books

| October 19, 2011 | 27 Comments

Don’t miss your chance to win this awesome set of kids’ books after the review.

This is a biased review, mainly because I have a special love for Max Lucado and the things he does. I especially love what he creates for children, teaching them in fun and special ways about God’s love.

Even if you aren’t familiar with Lucado’s work, chances are–if you have kids around–that you’ve heard or seen Lucado’s awesome caterpillarWritRams Giveaways Max Lucado Books creation named Hermie. Lucado has just released three new books featuring his “common caterpillar.”

There are two new board books; small and sturdy and perfect for babies and little preschooler fingers. “Thank You, God, For Blessing Me“  features Little Hermie noticing all the things around that God has given him—a place to sleep, his buggy friends and the flowers, trees and stars. “Thank You, God, For Loving Me” also features Little Hermie, but he is thanking God for everything God does for him–watching over while he’s sleeping, playing, afraid and more.

Not only do the books have wonderful messages, but they are also beautifully illustrated–enough so that it prompted my 3 year old to make up her own stories as she looked through the books on her own.

Rounding out this giveaway pack is a third book, “Hermie, a Common Caterpillar.“ This level two reader is a level up from the other books and features an older Hermie wondering why he has to be so “common.” You see, Hermie couldn’t fly like the butterflies and didn’t have awesome spots like some of the other caterpillars or wasn’t strWritRams Hermie Common Caterpillar Level 2 Readerong like the ants. So, Hermie and his friend Wormie both question God about why he’s not awesome like some of the other bugs and God’s answer is always the same: “I’m not finished with you yet.” At the end, Hermie becomes a beautiful butterfly just the way God made him. Through this wonderful story, kids will learn that they are just the way God makes them and will continue to grow and change as God intends.

Max Lucado’s “Hermie” series has sold over 5.5 million units that focus on God’s love through Christian messages.

I would use these for our children’s ministry in Alexandria South Africa. We are starting up a classroom to help underprivileged orphans who, due to neglect and/or abuse, are too far behind in school to ever graduate. I am currently in the process of relocating from Olathe, Kansas to Alexandria, South Africa to teach these orphans. We were just today talking about setting up a library for the children and these books would be a wonderful starter for that library!

I have three little girls who, like me, love all things Max Lucado. But the littlest one, 4, has recently started noticing that “evewyfing I have” gets passed to her from her sisters. So… the board books would be hers to “read” with help from me, of course, and we’d all enjoy the third. Thanks for the chance to win! — Dawn

My sister and I would share these books between our five kids. The oldest one is asking some questions about God that have been hard for us to answer. The more books we can read to them about God, the better their little minds can wrap around how great, loving and powerful He is!

  24. Kristin Kratky says:

If I won, I’d have my son help me wrap them for Christmas and we would donate them to the local women’s & children’s center, where they are always in need of new books for the little ones. We have more than enough, now I want to teach him to love “the least of these”.

  25. lilshuga2001 says:

Read TOgether with my little one :)

  26. Diane Baum says:

I would share them with my students
