4D Dora and Diego Movie Rocks
Recently I had my first 4D movie experience. AND IT ROCKED.
If you’re not familiar with 4D movies, it is where they appeal to your senses other than sight and sound. The movie is in 3D, but generally your seat vibrates, there are smells released at certain times, or wind will blow your hair–things like that.
My first experience was the new Dora and Diego 4D Adventure. In this episode, Dora and Diego are trying to help out the rain forest animals by capturing a robot butterfly who is trying to destroy the forest (released by, of course, Swiper).
Some of the cooler 4D effects include feeling the water spray when Dora and Diego go through a waterfall, smelling the banana when Diego peels it and snow dropping on you when Dora and Diego land in the Antartic. There were also bubbles…lots of bubbles. That’s all I’m going to say.
The downfall is that the movie is expensive. It’s only about 15 minutes long and our tickets were $4 each. However, if you’ve never experienced 4D, it is well worth the price of admission (in my opinion). It’s beyond description.
One word of caution: if you have a young child or a child that is overwhelmed by simultaneous stimulation, this might be a bit much for them. The chairs vibrate and the bursts of air and water hit you in the face, so it could be scary for some.
The movie is (obviously) showing in theaters equipped with this kind of technology–zoos, museums, etc. To see where it is showing near you, search the Internet for “Dora Diego 4D Adventure [your city]“.
Dora nor Diego paid me to write this. However, Boots did try to give me his awesome red kicks, but I said no since it was summer. (If it had been winter, it would’ve been ON.)

I know it’s Dora the Explorer, but I highly recommend seeing a 4-D movie, no matter what it is! I went to Universal a couple years ago with my girls and we went to Shrek in 4-D. THAT was an experience! :D
I’m with you, Jen! I think I actually did the foot drag “but I don’t want to see a Dora movie” pout as we went in. I think I ended up enjoying it more than the 3 year old! LOL!
15 minutes! My granddaughter would be so pissed to have it end that fast. I would love check out a 4D experience but that is crazy short.
Jenn-I didn’t time it exactly, but went by what the girl told us when we bought the tickets. However, I think it felt a lot longer!
The hubby and I went to a 4D movie at Busch Gardens a few years ago and loved it. It was fun and we laughed the entire time. However, knowing how Brennen is, I know he would be scared. So you are right, you definitely have to consider how your kid will react.
