Solid Line Keyboard Elevates iPad Functionality

| May 25, 2011

Don’t miss your chance to win a Solid Line iPad™ Case with an Integrated Bluetooth® Keyboard after the review!

I’ve mentioned before that I’m really not a gadget freak. Generally, beyond normal functions of items on my phone and computer, I’m unimpressed with all the bells and whistles. Well, maybe unimpressed isn’t exactly the right word, but you get the point.

When I received my iPad, I thought it was cool. It was…novel. However, as a writer and blogger, I found it next to impossible to actually write on the thing. I type pretty fast, so using one hand for an on-screen keyboard just didn’t work for me. I occasionally checked email with my iPad and used it for a little social networking. And then? It turned into the game machine for me and my 3 year old–a $900 game machine. It just didn’t seem…right. So I was excited when Jess from Solid Line Products asked me to take a look at the Bluetooth iPad case with integrated keyboard. I mean, gasp, I might be able to use my iPad to do some actual work? I was skeptical…until I tried it.Solid Line iPad Keyboard

The super slim Solid Line Bluetooth RightShift Keyboard case is as light as carrying a leather portfolio into a meeting. I inserted my iPad into the top and performed the keyboard setup and link up in one short minute. That’s right–about 60 seconds (which is generally all the time I have before the 3 year old tries to commandeer the iPad).

It did take me a couple of days to become accustomed to the compact keyboard and key sensitivity. I have a full-size keyboard on my laptop, but if you’re used to a compact keyboard then the Solid Line keyboard will not pose a problem. I’m still getting used to the pressure sensitivity of the keys–again, a learning curve you will have when switching to any new product.

One thing that was completely astonishing to me is that you can get 90 hours of continuous use (CONTINUOUS USE, people!) before you have to recharge the keyboard. In bloggy years, this means I can blog for almost four days straight before worrying about finding an outlet. I’m in love.

The only downside that I’ve found to the keyboard and case (and believe me, I’ve been looking) is that I wish the fold-down flap that becomes a wrist guard area had a pocket to carry some business cards. (Solid Line? Next generation recommendation.) And, that is all I can find wrong with this keyboard. (And we all know how picky I am.)

iPad Keyboard from Solid LineThe Solid Line Bluetooth keyboard has elevated my iPad from novel to completely functional. It’s what I’m typing this review on right now. How does it look? Sexy, right? It’s okay, you don’t have to be jealous because YOU CAN WIN YOUR OWN KEYBOARD. (Uh huh. I said it.) Just leave a comment about how you will use the new keyboard case and you will automatically be entered into a random drawing to win.

Can’t wait for the drawing and need one NOW? (I don’t blame you. Seriously.) Well, Jess and the rest of the people from Solid Line have graciously provided WritRams readers with $15 OFF the RightShift Keyboard case (for iPad or iPad2) mentioned in this post. Just visit www.solidlineproducts.com and enter the code WRTRAM at checkout. Soon you’ll be the cool kid on the block, too. (Yeah, I went there.)

Ready to win your very own Solid Line iPad™ Case with an Integrated Bluetooth® Keyboard? (A $99 value!)

Here’s all you need to do:

Leave a comment on this post with the type of iPad you have (iPad or iPad2) and why you need the keyboard. (Begging doesn’t help your chances, but it does amuse me when I read your comments.)

That’s it!

On June 17, 2011, we will randomly select (via random.org) one winner from all comments. The winner will be notified via email on their comment.   Good luck!

Entries must be received by midnight EST, June 17, 2011, to be eligible.

I have an Ipad 2 and i have honestly been looking for a good case, I was a bit concerned about some of the high prices for seemingly (Crappy) cases, I got frustrated purchased a $10 case thinking it would do the job. It does the job alright like a drunken bum, its horrible there aren’t any holes for my camera, its slippery material which makes me fear for my pads personal safetly. The plastic peace that holds it in place is already bending and warping out of place…. I looked this up and I would love one of these the pictures suggest that this is exactly what I need, maybe I can get my wife on the bandwagon if i win it too.

  75. Becki Johnston says:

I have an iPad2. I love my iPad. I do use it for games, but mostly I use it when seeing patients (ie accessing medication information, demonstrating disease processes through anatomical pictures, etc.) There are a lot of awesome iPad apps out there designed for medical professionals. I try to be as speedy as possible for my patients, but often times I just can’t get to the information I need fast enough due to reduced typing speed with the onscreen keyboard. I would be able to increase my productivity AND be able to reduce waiting times for my patients. Plus, with the onscreen keyboard I end up with way too many typos, which unfortunately in emails to colleagues makes me look far less intelligent than I actually am. Please make me faster with my patients and appear smarter in my emails!

    • Becki Johnston says:

I forgot to mention one thing- my workplace is currently looking at getting iPads to use when we begin using electronic medical records. There is one rather opinionated naysayer whose biggest contention to using iPads is their lack of a portable keyboard. I would love to show this individual the ease of the iPad when also using the case/keyboard product and erase any possible doubts of using the iPad for our clinic.

  79. Michael V. says:

I’m a college student with an Ipad 2 and having one of these bluetooth keyboards will make taking notes during class much easier than using an on screen keyboard.

  80. Sand says:

I have an iPad2 and I need a keyboard because I have a hard time typing on the screen.
